Summary

In the #1 New York Time s bestseller  The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be , Joanna Gaines and illustrator Julianna Swaney celebrate how creativity and acceptance can come together to make for a bright and beautiful adventure。 The book follows a group of children as they each build their very own hot-air balloons。 As the kids work together, leaning into their own skills and processes, to fill the sky with beautiful colors, we discover that the same is true for life--it's more beautiful and vibrant when our differences are celebrated。

Together with Joanna, you and your kids will take a journey of growth and imagination as you learn in full color that:

We should celebrate every child's one-of-a-kind strengths as well as teamwork and acceptance of differences

Everything can be made more beautiful when we share our talents and abilities

We should lend a helping hand and do our best to take care of one another

The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be is a vibrant picture book perfect for:

Ages 4-8

Parents, libraries, classroom story times, and discussions about diversity and being a good human being

Households that enjoy watching Chip and Joanna on Magnolia Network and HGTV's Fixer Upper

With plenty of pink, a bounty of blue, orange and green and yellow too, this vibrant hot-air balloon adventure celebrates every child and teaches kids that we are in this together。 "You're one of a kind, and it's so clear to see: The world needs who you were made to be。"

This book is great for showing children that being unique is amazing and needed in our world。 Sometimes people forget that it is important to teach that as well。 I love that it discusses how some people work differently but when it comes down to it, we are all working on the same thing。 It has a really great message and I highly recommend buying this book!

Nice story and good Illustrations。

This sweet book gives kids the confidence to be the different person they were meant to be without looking at themselves as weird, but instead looking at how they fit into the larger picture because they are unique with the other unique kids。 They fit in because they are beautifully different! I loved the artwork and the various ways the depicted children each had their own personalized talented vision and ways to create。

Awesome book for young children。

This was a beautifully illustrated children’s book emphasizing differences in people。 Those differences make the world what it is。 I think children will enjoy the story and the hot air balloons!

I am biased when it comes to the Gaines family, I just love them and everything that they do。 This is a children's read aloud that tells the message of the importance of people's differences。 I thought it was well done and the illustrations were stunning。 As a teacher books where students can see themselves in the characters is important so that they feel connected。 I am biased when it comes to the Gaines family, I just love them and everything that they do。 This is a children's read aloud that tells the message of the importance of people's differences。 I thought it was well done and the illustrations were stunning。 As a teacher books where students can see themselves in the characters is important so that they feel connected。 。。。more

For: readers looking for a colorful book that celebrates our differences (in looks, abilities, how we think, etc。)。Possible red flags: children in hot air balloons unattended。

Super cute book the illustrations are what made me buy the book in the first place you can see there is a bunch of diversity within the images and text。 It talks about how everyone is one of a kind and that the world needs everyone to be themselves!

Joanna Gaines is 1/4 German, 1/4 Lebanese, and 1/2 Korean, according to an interview。 The general message of this book is we're all different - we learn differently, think differently, work differently, look differently, but "we all have an important part to play。" Cute, but not unique。 Joanna Gaines is 1/4 German, 1/4 Lebanese, and 1/2 Korean, according to an interview。 The general message of this book is we're all different - we learn differently, think differently, work differently, look differently, but "we all have an important part to play。" Cute, but not unique。 。。。more

This book is a really creative way for children to hear those affirmations。 I think it would be really fun to keep those affirmations going throughout your classroom with themes and lessons。 The illustrations are very unique and I love how they apply to the story。 I put it at a lower grade level because it's a shorter read, but I think every student would benef Genre: poetryGrade Range: kindergarten-1st gradePersonal Review: This book is so fun。 I am all about positive affirmations for children! I really enjoyed reading this to my kids。 Lots of people do different things and it covers a wide range of creatives and planners, etc。 One child's room is hot air balloons so this worked perfectly to go up with the display of other books we have with hot air balloons in the room。 I really enjoyed reading this to my kids。 Lots of people do different things and it covers a wide range of creatives and planners, etc。 One child's room is hot air balloons so this worked perfectly to go up with the display of other books we have with hot air balloons in the room。 。。。more

A great story and a great message that everyone needs to be reminded of。

Any book that shares the sentiment that we all have much to bring to the world and that we need to celebrate our differences。 The title gets five stars, but the words and illustrations inside do as well。 Kids (and adults) can never hear this message enough。

I loved the themes of individuality and diversity。 This book would make a great addition to an elementary school counselor’s SEL library!

The book delivers a very nice message。 Be who you're。 I love the muted colors illustrations。 I mainly read it because of the illustrated art :p。 The book delivers a very nice message。 Be who you're。 I love the muted colors illustrations。 I mainly read it because of the illustrated art :p。 。。。more

I loved the message of this book, especially in a world that tells children to behave a certain way to fit in。 I read it to my children and will read it to my class of Kindergarteners, however I think the message is fitting all the way through adolescences。

Jackie Pilling

Beautiful message for readers of all ages。

Norkett

A very nice message paired with an interesting project for each child, building a hot air balloon! It was fun to see how each one turned out different。

papilionna

Very Seuss-esque with a great message and display of diversity, but a bit lackluster for my taste。
